Meeting the right person depends on a number of things falling into place. But how important is money? Do attractive people demand more from their partner? Our most recent survey…
If music be the food of love, play on!
– Twelfth Night, Act I, Scene I
As Shakespeare so aptly put it, music and romance go hand in hand. We pick first dances at weddings; couples have ‘our’ song; teenagers who are too shy to say it out loud declare their love via mix-tape.
Love songs: a soundtrack for the important moments
Many a classic love affair has its own unique soundtrack. Music is there to sum up the feelings as a couple goes from All By Myself to Crush and from And Then He Kissed Me to a White Wedding. Songs are there as a couple falls in life long Everlasting Love, creating a lot of wonderful memories along the way.
Indeed, music and romance are so intertwined that it doesn’t matter if you are a fan of pop songs or rock songs; top 40 hits or indie darlings; the Beatles or Bauhaus – chances are, if there is a band out there that you like, they will have written a song or even an album about love. The lyrics might differ from pop to rock and back again but the subject matter remains the same – the triumphs (and tragedies) of the heart.
100 best love songs? Choosing the greatest
Is there a definitive list of the greatest love songs ever? No – there can never be – because music is so subjective. But can we make a list of the romantic songs that we enjoy? You betcha. In celebration of International Music Day in June, EliteSingles has compiled a Spotify® list that showcases 100 of the best love songs of all time (subjectively, of course!). We’ve judged the song list in no particular order, but with one proviso: all the songs on the list are about the joys of love. It is a celebration after all! Think of it as our mix-tape for you.
Happy International Music Day from EliteSingles!

Did we mention some of your favourite love songs in our list? Did we leave out the songs you consider the greatest? Too much pop, not enough rock (or vice versa)? Let us know! Post a comment below, post your favourite song or video on Facebook or email us at [email protected]
