Every month we take a moment to read through the stories of real couples that have found real love through EliteSingles. While every story is different, one thing is for certain; love is not always easy – but finding it is worth the wait.
Dealing with loss
No one knows this better than Laois resident Susan, who lost her partner to cancer three years ago. Her loss left her with feelings of pain, sadness and loneliness, and she struggled with the job of getting on with the rest of her life. Last summer she felt it was finally time to start dating again, and after talking with her children she decided to join EliteSingles.
A hundred kilometers away in Dublin, an EliteSingles member found himself in a very similar situation. Eddie had also lost his partner to cancer, and had struggled with moving on into a new, foreign stage of his life.
Returning to dating
The pair were connected via the EliteSingles platform and they chose to take things slowly – they exchanged a number of messages followed by months of lengthy chats on the phone. ‘We had a lot in common’ says Susan, ‘especially the fact that our partners had both died too young and both from the same dreaded cancer.’
Eventually the pair decided to meet for a coffee. ‘We really got on, our meeting lasted for a few hours, but felt like minutes!’ explains Susan. Further lunch dates followed and the pair have now established a partnership, ‘ We both feel very strongly for each other, and find ourselves in a very serious relationship’.
So while love is not always easy, being happy is a choice, Susan says. ‘And both Eddie and I have chosen that path’.
